We had a wonderful Difference Day today at which our new playground in Kilmullen Lane has really taken shape. This was all made possible by the teamwork of our Parent’s Association, Difference Days, St Catherine’s Association and St Gerard’s School in Bray. There are too many people to thank but a special mention has to made to be Denis O’Reilly who coordinated the project. His has energy, enthusiasm and dedication in abundance and we are so grateful for his involvement.
So, to give a brief history of the project, the playgrounds in both school sites were in desperate need of improvement. We had swing frames with no swings in both playgrounds and really nothing for our students to have meaningful and enjoyable learning experiences from in our outside areas.
So, the Parent’s Association decided to dedicate the Strictly fundraiser to improving playgrounds and that’s were it all started. From there, Difference Days in collaboration with St Gerard’s School in Bray and through St Catherine’s Association came on board to help make our new playgrounds a reality. Plans were made, equipment was purchased and there was lots of preparation in getting everything ready for the Difference Day today. So it was on Monday 14th May 2018, eighty transition year students from St Gerard’s School worked tirelessly all day digging, spreading, constructing, raking, loading wheelbarrows and loads of other jobs. Our students and staff got involved too and great fun was had by all. Thank you so much to everyone involved in our playgrounds project. Also, just to say, the EDC playground is also well under way, a team managed by Verve are working on the EDC playground. Watch this space!!
Together we can make a Difference
